The Fairy Pools is a breath-taking natural feature, consisting of rock pools of gorgeous, crystal clear water which are fed by waterfalls cascading down the mountain side of the famous Black Cuillins.

Durness beach is just absolutely beautiful, with the most amazing views, aqua marine sea and of course the perfect golden sand. So why wouldn't you expect to come across the odd cow or two?.

Timespan Museum
The Time Span Heritage Centre in Helmsdale, is an award-winning combination of life-size displays and audio-visual exhibits to tell the story of the area famous for its Herring Industry.

Shandwick Stone
The Shandwick Stone is a Class II Pictish stone which stands an incredible 2.7m high and is thought to date back to around 780 and served as a beacon to fishermen. The stone is covered in glass to protect it from the harsh Scottish elements. A nice touch is the glass box is lit up at night showing the stone in its full glory.

Staffin Dinosaur Museum
The Staffin Dinosaur Museum was established by Dugald Ross in 1976 when he was only a teenager. The species he identified in the area include Stegosaurus, Megalosaurus, Cetiosaurus, Hadrosaurus, and Ceolophysis. Whaligoe Steps
The Whaligoe Steps are an amazing set of stairs which zig-zag down 250ft of cliff face wich gave access to the small natural harbour below, this was used many moons ago where the local woman would carry the fish up the steps in baskets. As you are going down the steps to see this beautiful natural harbour just remember you will have to walk up all 365 of them.
