The Highland Games in Scotland can be dated as far back as 2000BC and they were gatherings where local clans would meet to demonstarate their skills and strength in a number of weird and traditional athletic styled events.

The most famous is probably "tossing the Caber" and the aim of this event is not to see how far you can throw the 20feet (80kg) huge wooden pole but to toss the pole as straight as you can to land as close to 12 o'clock.
